Wonder Woman Lynda Carter shuts down anti-LGBTQ+ Republican Lauren Boebert

Lynda Carter, AKA Wonder Woman, flawlessly shut down anti-LGBTQ+ conspiracy theorist and Republican Colorado representative Lauren Boebert.

On Monday, Boebert took to Twitter to wade into the latest bizarre debate favoured in US religious conservative circles – children and drag performances.

This month has seen Republican Texas state representative Bryan Slaton announce plans to ban children from attending drag performances, and Florida state representative Anthony Sabatini, supported by the state’s anti-LGBTQ+ governor Ron DeSantis, say he wants to make it a felony offence and “terminate the parental rights of any adult who brings a child to these perverted sex shows”.

Boebert, a Trump-loving activist for the expansion of gun rights, tweeted: “Take your children to CHURCH, not drag bars.”

Twitter was quick to point out that kids were more likely to be read a story by a drag queen in a library than to be taken to a bar, and that in any case, statistically, children were far less safe in churches.

But Carter, a staunch LGBTQ+ ally and all-round icon, asked Boebert: “Have you ever been to drag brunch?

“They have bread and wine, loving community, and men in fabulous dresses. Sounds a little like church to me!”
