Utah dad’s passionate defense of his elementary-age trans daughter is everything

When Jessie Sirivanchai stepped to the mic to address the board of the Cherry Creek School District, he didn’t hold back — and now his passionate defense of his little girl is making news all over Utah.

Local parents tried to make his elementary-age daughter into some sort of threat to other kids if she was allowed to use the girls’ restroom at school. And her dad wasn’t having it.

While the internet has gone wild over Sirivanchai’s response, the local CBS station anchor misgendered Alison. Reminiscent of a Fox News piece, the chryon dubbed the story a “crisis in the classroom.”

In the outlet’s report, other parents tried to paint Fox Hollow Elementary School as a liberal paradise, saying it was disrespectful of the other girls if Sirivanchai’s kid used a stall in the same restroom.

A State Board of Education member deliberately misgendered her. Another complained that it might make children feel bad if they felt “guilty” for bullying another child.

They insisted that Alison be shuffled off to a private bathroom so the other kids could shun her, despite federal law requiring the school to allow her to use the bathroom that corresponds to her gender identity.

With little Alison standing beside him at the podium, Sirivanchai got straight to the point.

“It has nothing to do with politics. It has nothing to do with being woke. It has nothing to do with any of this weird stuff. It’s just she wants to go to the school, and she looks like this,” Sirivanchai said.

With the community acting like the judgemental “Harper Valley PTA” from Jeannie C. Riley’s famous 1968 song, Alison can always count on her staunchest ally to defend her: her loving dad.
