Tom Daley & Dustin Lance Black have welcomed their second child

Olympic diver Tom Daley and filmmaker Dustin Lance Black have announced the birth of their second child.

In an Instagram post earlier this month, Daley announced the arrival of Phoenix Rose Black-Daley, alongside a photo of the happy family of four.

The “Queer Eye” star said the couple is “over the moon” and that he can’t wait to share more about their surrogacy journey.

“Our family has grown in the last week,” Daley wrote, “we welcomed Phoenix to the world on 28/03/23 and he’s just perfect.”

Daley’s and Black’s posts were flooded with congratulations, including from fellow famous gay dads David Burtka, Chasten Buttigieg, Lance Bass, and Andy Cohen.

The couple’s first child, Robbie, was born in 2018. When he was born, Daley wrote that “the amount of love and joy you have brought into our life is immeasurable.”

At the time, the couple discussed choosing not to know who Robbie is biologically related to.

“We put in a boy embryo and a girl embryo, and we don’t know whose is whose,” Daley told the Times of London at the time. “The next time, we’ll do it the other way around.”

Daley has long been a champion for the LGBTQ+ community, most recently speaking out for the rights of trans athletes.

At the British LGBT Awards last year, Daley spoke about feeling “furious” that the international federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee for administering international competitions in water sports banned transgender athletes from competing in women’s competitions. 

“Anyone that’s told that they can’t compete or can’t do something they love just because of who they are, it’s not on,” he said.

In 2021, he vowed to make it his “mission” to “make it so that the countries [where it’s] punishable by death for LGBT people are not allowed to compete at the Olympic Games.”
