The L Word: Generation Q is officially coming back for season three and from Kehlani to surprise weddings, it’s shaping up to be wild.

The 2019 revival picked up 10 years after the finale of the original The L Word, with a host of new faces, returning characters and some thrilling guest appearances.

Fans were concerned when season two ended in dramatic fashion – but without a return date.

Fortunately, Showtime confirmed season three would be made, and has since teased a series of big guest stars, old drama and new beginnings on the horizon.

Would a new season of The L Word be without new faces to get excited about?

In addition to the familiar faces, it’s been confirmed that singer and Kehlani will be joining season three. She will be playing Ivy, a makeup artist and young parent who is unlucky in love.

She joins comedian Margaret Cho, who will play herself as a talk show host, Joey Lauren Adams, who will play Taylor, a self-deprecating barista, and Joanna Cassidy, who will play Patty, Tess’ mom.

As showrunner, Marja-Lewis Ryan said: “I’m so excited to have these icons join our sparkly cast!”

Of course the core cast of characters is set to return:

• Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), 
• Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), 
• Shane McCutcheon (Moennig), 
• Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), 
• Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), 
• Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), 
• Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas), 
• Gigi Ghorbani (Sepideh Moafi), 
• Angie Porter-Kennard (Jordan Hull) 

And there’s good news for those who fell in love with the season two guest stars Rosie O’Donnell (Carrie), Laurel Holloman (Tina) and Jamie Clayton (Tess) as they have all been promoted to series regulars.  

What will happen in the new episodes?

When we left the characters at the end of season two, many of them were in rocky places. Tess and Shane’s relationship was up in the air as Tess headed to Las Vegas to care for her mother, who we now know will be played by Joanna Cassidy. 

Meanwhile, we were left on a cliffhanger about whether Bette is going to go after her girlfriend Pippa or fall back into the arms of her ex, Tina.

And for #Gini shippers, the question still remains as to whether Gigi and Dani will get their acts together. Their time ended dramatically when Dani was arrested at Gigi’s family dinner.
