SHAME on you MOUNT SINAI : as a place that heals we expect so much better of you

Mount Sinai is not the first hospital to capitulate to the Trump administration’s attacks is a surrender that leaves transgender young people without essential care. But for some reason, this one is harder to take than most. This new decision should outrage every single American who cares about their access to quality healthcare. At the same time, they announced they will end gender-affirming care for minors. They also announced that they have been forced (or actually fined by the Administration) to invest $2 million for free medical services to patients suffering what the DOJ called the “harmful consequences, of care they received at Mount Sinai as children. 

This unfair, outrageous move is a slap in the face to the thousands of patients struggling to afford standard care.Mount Sinai’s decision to put politics over their own patients will have reprehensible outcomes — it will kill kids.

Sadly, they will not be the last hospital to fold as the Administration is trying to scare institutions into a false choice.  Hospitals must choose to stand up to these power grabs from the Orange Man and the equally deranged, manic Health Secretary and hold the line to protect their patients.

How many lives have to be ruined and/or ended before we fight back?

PS: This is all coming on a day when the (current) President dismissed the 18 US soldiers killed while serving their country in the war he started as ‘small potatoes’
