Sex and the City’s Mr Big, Chris Noth, rewrites And Just Like That… twist in hilarious Peloton ad

Sex and the City star Chris Noth has teamed up with Peloton for a hilarious new advert after that shocking twist during the And Just Like That… premiere episode.

Warning – spoilers follow.

As the world continues to mourn the death of Noth’s beloved character Mr Big in the new HBO Max series, the 67-year-old actor decided to help Peloton create an alternate ending in the playful new campaign.

The fitness brand found one way to provide some festive cheer with the short clip which sees Mr Big reunite with Peloton instructor Jess King (who was seen as his character’s favourite instructor, Allegra, in And Just Like That…).

It turns out Big is alive and well, and he’s still enjoying plenty of rides.

The Christmas advert starts with Noth and King talking in front of a cosy open fire as they toast to “new beginnings”.

After King tells Noth that he looks great, he replies: “I feel great. Shall we take another ride? Life’s too short not to.”

The camera then zooms out to reveal two Peloton bikes behind them, before the one and only Ryan Reynolds pops up to narrate the moment… in the style of Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw.

“And just like that… the world was reminded that regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs, and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular diseases,” he says in the voiceover.

The actor adds: “Cycling strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse, and reduces blood fat levels. He’s alive.”

The Peloton campaign is the latest response from the brand after Big suffered a heart attack following his 1,000th ride on the exercise bike in the first episode of the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That…

The company had no idea that stationary bike would be involved in the death plot prior to the episode airing, and a spokesperson made it clear that the high-end machine was not to blame for Big’s heart issues.

In a statement, Peloton’s preventive cardiologist Dr Suzanne Steinbaum explained: “I’m sure SATC fans, like me, are saddened by the news that Mr Big dies of a heart attack. Mr Big lived what many would call an extravagant lifestyle — including cocktails, cigars, and big steaks — and was at serious risk as he had a previous cardiac event in season six.

“These lifestyle choices and perhaps even his family history, which often is a significant factor, were the likely cause of his death. Riding his Peloton Bike may have even helped delay his cardiac event.”

And Just Like That… was met with mixed reviews following its premiere, with some labelling its attempts to introduce issues of race as ham-fisted and tone-deaf, while others lamented over the fact the fun nature of the series seemed to be missing.

The reboot also explained the absence of Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones, seemingly taking some inspiration from Cattrall’s real-life fallout with Sarah Jessica Parker.

And Just Like That… airs on Thursdays at 9pm on the Sky Comedy channel.
