Rescue dogs salute Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis in adorable pics

Jamie Lee Curtis definitely had a momentous awards season, picking up both a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Oscar for her supporting role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Recently, a Southern California animal shelter saluted the star with a little doggie drag action.

Last month, Paw Works, a no-kill, nonprofit shelter in Ventura, California, posted photos of seven of its recently adopted dogs dressed as some of Curtis’s most iconic characters, including Deirdre Beaubeirdre, the role for which she won her first Academy Award.

“I’m gonna just call them ‘Them.’ They/them. And they are doing great!”

“We want to extend a huge congratulations to our friend @jamieleecurtis for her SAG wins this past weekend!” the shelter wrote in a February 28 Instagram post. “To show our admiration and appreciation for you and your work, some of our rescues (with the help of their humans) have replicated some of your memorable personas!”

The shelter teamed up with new owners Greta Vanhersecke, Michelle Kim, and Kristi Foley to create the tiny costumes for canine cuties Ziggy, Tilda, Pom Pom, Jameson, and Winston.

Paw Works director of operations Brittany Vizcarra told Newsweek recently that Curtis has been a supporter of the shelter since meeting its late founder, Chad Atkins, years ago. People noted that Curtis worked with the shelter for her tribute to Betty White, a longtime animal welfare advocate herself, during last year’s Oscar In Memoriam segment.

“THIS is EVERYTHING!” Curtis wrote on Instagram, reposting the Paw Works pics.

Following Curtis’s repost, Vizcarra said the shelter saw a sharp increase in adoption inquiries. “We have had people coming in and messaging from all over California looking to adopt the next faux celeb pup star,” she said.

After Curtis won her first Academy Award earlier this month, Paw Works posted a new photo of Ziggy in his Deirdre Beaubeirdre costume along with a tiny Oscar statuette.
