New Republican congresswoman wants you to know she’s not a witch

Representative-elect Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) is not a witch. She wants you to know that. Oh, and she didn’t sleep with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) either.

Luna’s lawyers have sent a letter to conservative activist Matt Tito demanding that he publicly apologize for making the allegations on the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show.

Tito alleged that Luna had been fired from a previous job, had sex with Gaetz, and put spells on political opponents. Gaetz is currently under investigation for sex trafficking a minor; one of his associates has already pled guilty to six felony charges.

For her part, Luna has accused Tito of conspiring with another candidate to kill her during the campaign. He denies the allegation.

Tito’s statements were “said in gross negligence knowing the statements were highly implausible and unlikely to be true,” according to her lawyer, David Lisko.

“You said that Ms. Luna (a devout Christian) practices witchcraft,” he added. “You are hereby demanded to publicly and immediately retract each and every defamatory statement you made about Ms. Luna on the show.”

“Because you do not have the ability to distribute your retraction widely on your social media, you are demanded to apologize and retract your statements on the Bubba the Love Sponge Show or by making a retraction and apology video that you send to me that Ms. Luna will distribute via her social media.”

But Tito stands behind his claims.

“I didn’t wake up one morning when I was going on the Bubba the Love Sponge show and say I am going to pull a bunch of stuff out of my ass and talk about it,” Tito told The Daily Beast.

He says he got the scoop from Hispanics for Trump’s Paloma Zuniga who reportedly said that “Luna practices witchcraft.”

“That is where I heard that from,” Tito said. “She puts spells on people.”

Gaetz also denied sleeping with the incoming congresswoman. He called the allegation a “lie” that was being repeated because Luna is “leading the fight alongside 20 members who know America deserves better than Kevin McCarthy.” Gaetz has been among the forceful Republicans opposed to Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-FL) election as House speaker.
