Netflix has cast Colman Domingo and Marco Calvini as a married couple : possibly the hottest queer pair on TV

OMG, Netflix is spoiling us.  Come May 1st, they are screening a new comedy series from Tina Fey (and her fellow 30 Rock writer-producers Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield).  But the real reason that THE FOUR SEASONS will be at the top of our MUST SEE LIST is that it stars not one, but two of our favorite (hot) queer actors.  Colman Domingo who received consecutive nominations in 2024 and 2025 for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayals of civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in the biopic Rustin and a prison inmate in the drama Sing Sing. We don’t always agree with Time Magazine but we love the fact that they named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2024.

His co star Marco Calvani  is an Italian playwright, director, filmmaker, translator and actor who made quite the splash when he wrote and directed his debut movie HIGH TIDE. (We had the plreasure on intervieing him in Provincetown)  He actaully ended up marrying the film’s star Marco Pigossi

This new series is inspired  by the 1981 movie of the same name directed by and starring Alan Alda, which was about a group of three married couples who vacation together once a season—their happy friend group is thrown into disarray when they learn one of the couples is headed toward a break-up.  Like the film, the series over the course of four different vacation for this friend group—one for each season, and  chances are we’ll see one of these couples fall apart when someone begins dating a new, younger partner. 

Co-creator Tina Fey will star as Kate, whose partner Jack is played by fellow SNL & 30 Rock alum Will Forte. She’ll also reunite with her Date Night co-star Steve Carell whose Nick is married to Anne, played by Reno 911! scene-stealer Kerry Kinney-Silver.  But most importantly the new Four Seasons makes a major (welcome) update to the original by making one of its central couples gay.  And what a prefect looking couple Marco and Colman are. Netflix is being very coy about what happens so our mind is working overtime trying to guess what it will be but we will all have to wait until May 1st to find out
