Marjorie Taylor Greene deadnames Rachel Levine in transphobic rant

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) lashed out at Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Rachel Levine, deadnaming the accomplished doctor on Twitter.

Levine expressed hope that people would be more accepting of transgender people at a visit to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center last week.

“What are you suffering? Where’s your harm? Where’s your compassion?” she asked, trying to figure out why they want to deadname Elliot Page so badly.

“I’m a positive and optimistic person, and I choose to be positive, optimistic,” she said. “And I think that the wheels will turn on this.”

Talking about people becoming more accepting upset Greene, so she linked a Fox News article about Levine’s comments and called Levine a diminutive of her deadname which is also a word for genitalia.

“Sorry [deadname],” Greene wrote. “We will NOT be embracing the gender change lie and chopping off children’s body parts.”

“We will only protect children from permanent damage to their bodies and continue to stand in the truth that there are only two genders, male and female,” she continued, and then she plugged her bill to ban gender-affirming care for trans youth and make it more difficult for adults to obtain.

Deadnaming refers to using a transgender person’s name that they were given at birth, which is usually associated with their assigned sex at birth. Not only is it mean-spirited to use a name other than a person’s actual name when referring to them, but it’s also even more dehumanizing to refer to trans people by their deadnames because doing so can cause dysphoric feelings and is an attack on their identity. Many social media platforms – including Twitter – prohibit deadnaming for this reason, but Greene’s tweet remains active at the time of publication of this article.

It really is obsessed with children’s genitals and it has nothing to do with the well-being of the kids. It’s probably using it as an excuse to view photos. It’s a sick creature.
