Lesbian moms gave birth to each other’s biological babies

Two British moms have made history by giving birth to each other’s biological sons. The lesbian couple’s children were born via IVF.

Emily Patrick and Kerry Osborn used the same sperm donor to inseminate their eggs, and then the eggs were implanted in the partners to carry until birth. It was the first time simultaneous reciprocal IVF was attempted in the UK.

Gladys Bentley was on top of the world until the Lavender Scare forced her back into the closet.

The children resemble their biological mothers, but both women acknowledge that while they love the children equally, they both feel a special connection to the child that they carried to birth. The babies were born a few weeks apart earlier this year.

“It’s been very emotional seeing both our boys arrive and watching each other become mothers in the space of a few weeks. I was always the less maternal one but I’ve found a whole different level of love, like a new chamber in my heart, for our babies,” Patrick told the Daily Mail.

“I still can’t quite believe they’re both here, that we made our dream of a family a reality. We never set out to be pioneers but we hope we’ve shown other people in the LGBTQ+ community that this is achievable,” Osborn added.

The couple met in New Zealand and now live in England. While they’ve traveled together extensively, settling down is their current priority. They’re planning to get married.
