Lauren Boebert roundly mocked for saying Al Sharpton needs to read a history book

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) attacked civil rights activist and MSNBC commentator Rev. Al Sharpton for comparing Donald Trump to King George III, saying that he needs “a history book.”

She shared a clip of Sharpton on Morning Joe discussing Trump’s third indictment, this one with charges connected to his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election and block the peaceful transfer of power to President Joe Biden.

It’s not quite clear what factual issue she was referring to. Perhaps she thought that Sharpton was saying that King George III (the colonies that would become the United States fought against him for independence in the late 18th century) and the Confederate States of America either fought with or against one another, but his tone in the clip makes it clear that he was presenting both as just two examples of people fighting against American democracy.

Others in Boebert’s replies didn’t understand what she meant either. Some mocked her for criticizing Sharpton’s knowledge considering her own educational history, which includes getting her GED in her 30s only after she had decided to run for Congress.

He's saying that King George and the Confederates were enemies of the USA and colonies. You're showing your lack of intelligence
