Lauren Boebert congratulates cis women for being cis in rant about Kamala Harris

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) – and a large part of conservative media – got mad at Vice President Kamala Harris for writing a letter of support to a transgender woman, so she decided to give “a shoutout” to all the cis women for cissin’ it up.

At issue is a letter Harris sent to influencer Dylan Mulvaney last week. Mulvaney has been documenting her transition on TikTok and recently marked her 365th day living as a woman by hosting a live cabaret show in New York.

Since transgender people have faced constant attacks from the right, Harris decided to do something positive.

“I send you my warmest greeting as you celebrate your 365th day of living authentically,” Harris wrote. “Thank you for courageously sharing your story and your journey.”

“Our administration stands with the LGBTQI+ community in the ongoing struggle for true equity and equality and against hate and discrimination in all forms,” she continued. “I am grateful for your dedication and courage, and I hope you continue to use your platform to spread positivity and create change.”

The letter doesn’t mention any new policy positions for the Biden administration and is overall fairly innocuous, but that didn’t stop Boebert from getting offended.

“Since Kamala Harris is now sending out letters to congratulate men for dressing up as women, I’m sending this tweet as a shoutout to all the REAL women,” Boebert wrote. “Keep doing what you are doing and don’t let all this insanity get you down!”

She wasn’t the only conservative to explode in anger at the thought of Harris saying something nice to a trans person. Rightwing outlets, including the Daily Mail, Washington Examiner, TheBlaze, and Post Millennial all ran articles about the letter.

“Keeping busy Kamala? VP sends trans activist Dylan Mulvaney a one-year ‘birthday’ note congratulating her on 365 days of ‘living authentically’ – 7 days after Drew Barrymore knelt at her feet in fawning interview,” the Daily Mail’s headline blasted, referring to how a TikTok influencer didn’t get pelted with difficult questions on Drew Barrymore’s celebrity talk show.

Post Millennial described Mulvaney’s transition as “the adult male’s transition to a self-identified bimbo.”

On Twitter, many people who saw Boebert’s words disagreed with her.
