Kyrsten Sinema slams reports that she is friends with George Santos

Out Rep. George Santos (R-NY) claims he has support from another unpopular queer person in Congress: Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ).

But Sinema was quick to slam journalists claiming that they are friends, because even the woman who has been called “the most detested politician in the country” doesn’t want to be associated with George Santos.

Earlier this week at President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, Santos had a confrontation with Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) where the senator told Santos, “You don’t belong here.” Romney later said that he was upset that Santos apparently had no shame despite the numerous allegations of lying, stealing, campaign finance fraud, sexual harassment, and other crimes and misdeeds against him.

“But he shouldn’t be there and if he had any shame at all he wouldn’t be there,” Romney later told reporters.

Santos was apparently upset enough about the interaction to complain to the press the next day, but he said that someone was on his side: Sinema.

“I’ll put it this way, it’s not meant for television what I said back to him,” Santos said on Greg Kelly’s far-right Newsmax show. “But I can tell you one thing: he did hear me.”

“And Kyrsten Sinema, as she was walking by, the senator from Arizona, she said something to the effect of ‘Hang in there buddy’ or something like that. I said ‘Thank you, thank you… uh… Madame Senator.'”

“She was very polite and very kind-hearted, as I’ve learned to see her. She’s a good person, unlike Mr. Romney, who thinks he’s above it all and is an almighty white horse trying to talk to us down on morality.”

“The reality is, he’s always been… He has always had prejudice towards minority, he had it in his 2012 election, and that is why he didn’t become president when he absolutely had the opportunity to become president.”

“That is a blatant lie,” Sinema press secretary Pablo Sierra Carmona told Insider. “Kyrsten didn’t say a word to Rep. Santos – and didn’t even know about the exchange with Senator Romney until they got to their seats.”

Sinema herself lashed out at Newsweek for reporting that she is a “friend” to Santos.

“It takes less time to watch video that proves two dudes are lying than it does to write the story repeating the lie,” she tweeted earlier today, calling out both Newsweek and The Hill. “Instead you publish their lies for the clicks. Journalism used to be about the truth, but today Americans can’t count on an objective truth.”
