Josh Duggar forced into solitary confinement: It’s “so bad”

Josh Duggar, a former reality TV star and anti-LGBTQ+ activist who was convicted of possessing child pornography, has reportedly been moved to solitary confinement.

A source told tabloid site Radar Online that Duggar was moved to the solitary housing unit at the Federal Correctional Institution in Seagoville, Texas for being caught with a cell phone.

Duggar’s attorneys are asking a judge to overrule the jury’s findings and grant him a new trial, if not an acquittal of the charges altogether.

“I can tell you that the [solitary housing unit] there is so bad that the regional office was just down there to see what was going on,” the source, reportedly a family member of an inmate at the same facility as Duggar, said.

Duggar is currently serving a 12-year sentence after being convicted of knowingly downloading pictures that showed graphic child sex abuse in 2019 involving children between the ages of 18 months and 12 years.

Duggar appeared on the TLC reality series 19 Kids and Counting from 2008­­ to 2015. During that time, he worked with anti-LGBTQ hate group Family Research Council (FRC), appearing at rallies opposing marriage equality. The show was canceled following reports that Duggar had molested five girls, including four of his younger sisters, in 2002 and 2003 when he was 14 to 15 years old, and that his parents allegedly helped cover up the abuse.

In 2015, Duggar was forced to resign from FRC and released a statement to People Magazine in which he admitted to acting “inexcusably.”

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” Duggar said. “I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”

In 2021, Duggar was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Arkansas on child pornography charges, which Gerald Faulkner of Homeland Security Investigations said were “in the top five of the worst of the worst that I’ve ever had to examine.”

Duggar was convicted in December 2021 and sentenced to 151 months in prison in May 2022.

“What a terrible life he’s lived and will be living,” his cousin Amy Duggar said before his sentencing last May. “He’s a monster.”
