Jamie Lee Curtis will cosplay to officiate her trans daughter’s wedding

Since publicly announcing she had a trans daughter, actress Jamie Lee Curtis has been modeling what supportive parenting looks like. This year, she will not only be officiating her daughter, Ruby’s wedding, but it has recently come to light that she’ll be doing so in cosplay – as the sorceress Jaina Proudmoore from World of Warcraft. 

“Everybody at the wedding is going to be in costume, and I will be in a costume to officiate the wedding,” Curtis told Jimmy Kimmel.

The wedding will take place in Curtis’s backyard.

“It’s really exciting…. Both my children will have been married in my backyard which brings me to tears…. It’s so much more meaningful.”

Curtis said Ruby and her partner Cynthia picked out the character she’d portray at the wedding. So while she hasn’t heard of Jaina Proudmoore, she said she went straight to Etsy to order herself an outfit (though it is currently delayed, she said, because it’s coming from Russia).

Last week, Curtis penned a touching tweet wishing Ruby a happy birthday while declaring her support for trans people everywhere.

Along with the message, Curtis posted a photo of herself pumping her first and leg into the air while wearing a trans Pride t-shirt.

On Instagram, Curtis posted the same photo along with a longer message.
