Jamie Lee Curtis & Michelle Yeoh kissed at the SAG Awards

Jamie Lee Curtis celebrated her win for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role at Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony by locking lips with her Everything Everywhere All at Once co-star Michelle Yeoh.

After presenters Emily Blunt and Jason Bateman announced Curtis’s win, the actor stood up and embraced Yeoh, planting a kiss right on her lips as the room erupted in applause.

“The level of hatred, as if we haven’t learned from fascism, as if we haven’t learned what the result of that is: the extermination of human beings. That is terrifying.”

During her acceptance speech, Curtis led the crowd in chanting Yeoh’s name and explained that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star was the main reason she signed on to Everything Everywhere All at Once. “Michelle Yeoh, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you,” Curtis said.

“For all the Evelyns and Deirdres in the world,” Curtis continued, “We love you, we see you, we feel you, we are you. God bless you all.”

Later in the evening, Yeoh herself won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, while Ke Huy Quan took home the award for Male Actor in a Supporting Role for playing Evelyn’s husband. The film’s cast was also honored with the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film also recently swept GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics’ Dorian Awards, winning in nine categories including Film of the Year, LGBTQ Film of the Year, and a Film Performance of the Year win for Yeoh.

Following her SAG win, Curtis revealed that she was so caught up in the moment she didn’t remember kissing Yeoh. “I kissed her? Did I really… I kissed her?” she told Entertainment Tonight backstage. “Then… I kissed her! You know what, I know where I am.”

“I love Michelle Yeoh. We love each other,” she continued. “We fell in love with each other. She’s married. I met her husband in England, he’s lovely. I also have a husband.”

Curtis, of course, is a long-time LGBTQ+ ally. She’s been a vocal supporter of her own transgender daughter while advocating for the rights of trans young people. She’s also spoken out against the nation of Brunei’s 2019 law punishing consensual same-sex encounters with death by stoning and honored those killed in the mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in 2016. She has even called for the outing of closeted anti-LGBTQ+ politicians.
