Herschel Walker: Anti-abortion Senate hopeful denies paying for girlfriend’s termination

Anti-trans, anti-abortion Senate hopeful Herschel Walker has denied claims he paid for his girlfriend to terminate a pregnancy.

Walker, a former NFL star, launched his Senate campaign this year, winning the Republican nomination with 68 per cent of the vote and an endorsement from Donald Trump. He will face off against Democrat Raphael Warnock in November.

The ex-footballer, who told trans children that they wouldn’t go to heaven, said he does not believe in same-sex marriage, and claimed that climate change was caused by the “good air” in the US swapping over with China’s “bad air”, is running his campaign on the basis of religion and “conservative family values”, leaning heavily on his anti-abortion stance.

Walker believes that abortion should be banned with no exemptions, even in cases of rape and incest, and has been endorsed by the anti-choice National Right to Life Committee.

But this week, it turned out that Walker himself might be the only exemption he would accept.

A woman who claimed to have dated Walker in 2009 contacted The Daily Beast and said she had become pregnant, and that he had paid her $700 to have an abortion.

The publication said the woman provided a receipt from the abortion clinic, a bank deposit receipt including a photo of the $700 cheque signed by Walker, and a “get well” card with the senate candidate’s signature.

The Daily Beast also reportedly spoke to a friend of the woman, who corroborated her story.

Walker has denied the story in the “strongest possible terms”, and described the Daily Beast article as “another repugnant hatchet job from a Democrat activist disguised as a reporter” and said he was planning to sue the publication.

But for Walker’s gay, right-wing TikToker son, Christian Walker, who has stuck by his father throughout his Senate campaign, it seemed like this was the final straw.

He tweeted: “You’re not a ‘family man’ when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over six times in six months running from your violence.

“I don’t care about someone who has a bad past and takes accountability.

“But how DARE YOU LIE and act as though you’re some ‘moral, Christian, upright man’. You’ve lived a life of DESTROYING other people’s lives. How dare you.”

Herschel Walker was married to Cindy DeAngelis Grossman for 19 years, and during that time they had one son together – Christian. But Walker also has three further children from extra-marital affairs, who he publicly acknowledged for the first time this year.

Grossman has alleged that during her marriage to Walker, he was “physically abusive”, and that he threatened her with knives and a gun.

Walker does not deny Grossman’s allegations, but says he does not remember the events, with memory loss being a symptom of his mental health diagnosis, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID).
