Hate influencer Chaya Raichik bullied an official for looking queer. Gay Twitter came to the rescue.

Anti-LGBTQ+ social media personality Chaya Raichik – who got famous by posting videos of LGBTQ+-supportive teachers and baselessly accusing them of grooming children – posted a picture of a queer Biden administration official and called him a “total weirdo.” But instead of getting just the usual reaction from her fans who love to bully visibly queer and trans people, she faced a torrent of backlash from gay Twitter.

She posted a picture of Tyler Cherry, the principal deputy communications director for the Department of the Interior. He isn’t a household name by a longshot, but he has a public-facing job and he wore some earrings and a striped jacket for his official portrait.

Raichik’s tweets have inspired death and bomb threats against a Boston children’s hospital.

“Biden admin try not to hire total weirdos challenge = impossible,” she wrote in sharing the picture. She also shared a tweet from someone pointing out that Cherry wrote some anti-police tweets almost a decade ago.

TheBlaze, a far-right publication started by former Fox News host Glenn Beck, shared the image as well in an attempt to mock Cherry for his looks.

Gay Twitter – along with other progressives on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter – wasn’t having it. They slammed Raichik and TheBlaze for their bullying, pointed to Raichik’s participation in the January 6 failed coup attempt, and supported Cherry for having an aesthetic, unlike Raichik.

Chaya has roughly the creativity of all the high school bullies who harassed the #LGBTQ students (now doctors and lawyers) and became unsuccessful real estate agents.

It’s giving major “I need to harass people to manage my insecurities” energy. https://t.co/1CvFiqe5FC
