Former Log Cabin Republican “ambassador” tweets support for Uganda “Kill the Gays” bill

Isabella Riley Moody, a self-described “homophobic bi**h” and short-lived spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ Republican group Log Cabin Republicans, expressed support for Uganda’s new death penalty for homosexuality on Tuesday with a two-word tweet: “Based Uganda.”

The alt-right term “based” is a sign of approval for anything “anti-woke.”

Uganda’s new bill would make “aggravated homosexuality” a capital crime in the East African nation and imposes a life sentence for “recruitment, promotion and funding” of same-sex “activities.” The country’s unicameral legislature passed the “Kill the Gays” bill overwhelmingly on Tuesday. It awaits a signature from President Yoweri Museveni.

Moody, who is straight, has a long history of outspoken homophobia, and is a popular rhetorical bomb-thrower among far-right media.

Despite her zealously anti-LGBTQ+ views, in February, the beleaguered Log Cabin Republicans inexplicably appointed Moody as an ambassador for their “Outspoken” social media initiative, calling her “fearless, fun, and unapologetic.”  

Moody responded with characteristic malevolence.
