Danni Minogue’s hit TV series ‘I Kissed a Boy’ is back…… and we are loving it
The World is having another those major Minogue moments. Big sister Kylie is now the highest-selling Australian female artist of all time, with sales surpassing 80 million records, and she is currently in the middle of a World Tour with some 65 dates. (Queerguru caught her performing in Miami). Only last year Time listed her amongst some of the 100 most influential people in the world, Meanwhile sister Danni, also a major queer icon, is back on Brit TV using her matchmaking skills in Season 2 of her hit TV series I KISSED A BOY.
Kudos to Danni and her producers on the show’s success, particularly when the people behind the (straight) Love Island TV show claimed it would never work! Actually, the first season exclusively featuring gay men was quickly followed up by I Kissed a Girl, with a cast made up of women who love women. What made them so very special was the fact they were unapologetically queer and it was great to see the amazing public response to both series.
Now ‘I KISSED A BOY’ is back with another series and the whole Queerguru Team is loving the intrigue of all these budding love. connections and trying to second-guess which of them will turn into a long-term off-screen romance and which
will splutter and fall at the first hurdle. The producers have added a slight twist this time by casting a transman as one of the hopeful boys looking for a long-term connection. We’d like to believe he was cast in his own right and not just as a nod to boost ratings, especially as the immensely likable Lars would make a great BF for the right person. (We”ll have to wait for the next episodes, see if his (and our?) dreams come true.
Naturally, in this current uncharted political climate created by the Orange Man in the White House, this casting has stirred up some insidious feedback and hateful rhetoric in the tabloid press online, which frankly will only drive us more to support the program. And encourage you to do so too.
