Dad’s plea to let his son “poop” in peace goes viral after Wrabel sets it to music

A passionate father’s plea to the Missouri state legislature in opposition to a proposed law targeting transgender students has gone viral for an unusual reason. The bill would prevent students from using the restroom that aligns with their gender identity.

Rabbi Daniel Bogard’s testimony is heartfelt and eloquent, but his use of the word “poop” has sparked giggles online. And when singer Wrabel posted it on Instagram, set to one of his songs, even Dad got in on the fun.

The video features trans actors and the pop star posted it with a poignant personal note.

“Well, I for sure didn’t have ‘Wrabel setting my #MOLeg testimony to music’ on my bingo card for this week, but here we are?!?” he posted on X, the site formerly known as Twitter. He followed up with, “I challenge you to find a more moving musical setting of the word ‘poop’ than this.”

“It’s actually surprisingly easy to be a parent to a trans kid,” Bogart said in his testimony before the legislature. “The hard part — I mean it — the only hard part we have experienced is you all. The only hard part of having a trans kid is this sense that my government just won’t leave us alone. That we have to come back here again and again and fight just for his basic human dignity.”

“My kid trying to go to the bathroom in school with dignity is not the issue, But it is bills like this that will drive my family from this state. I am desperately fighting to stay,” he continued. “And I feel like I’m drowning because it happens again and again and again that we have to come here and fight for just the basic dignity of our kids.”
