DaBaby fails to donate to HIV/AIDS charities after vile homophobic rant. Shocker

Rapper DaBaby has allegedly ghosted the LGBT+ charity organisations he met up with after making homophobic comments earlier this year.

The musician faced fierce backlash in July after making a derogatory rant during Rolling Loud festival in Miami, aimed at gay men and people living with HIV.

He wrongly suggested to the crowd that people living with HIV die “in two, three weeks” from the virus and made inflammatory comments about queer men who “suck d**k”.

Due to immediate furore, the rapper was subsequently dropped from a string of festivals including Parklife, Lollapalooza, Day N Vegas and 2021 Governor’s Ball.

Following several limp apologies for his statements, the 29-year-old went on to meet with nine AIDS organisations in an attempt to show that he was taking time to “educate” himself.

However, in a report published on World Aids Days (1 December), it was revealed that three of the charities have not heard from DaBaby since their meeting in August.

According to Daily Beast, reps from the Positive Women’s Network, the Black AIDS Institute, and the Normal Anomaly Initiative confirmed they had not heard from DaBaby and were yet to receive any donations.

“Since then, we have not received any outreach, partnership, or funding from DaBaby. The onus is now on him, if he chooses to, to convert his misinformation into allyship by supporting the work of the Black AIDS Institute and other people of colour-led HIV organisations,” Pavni Guharoy at the Black AIDS Institute told the outlet.

It appears the rapper has completely moved on from the scandal after he eventually went on to perform at Rolling Loud in New York City, before announcing he would be embarking on a headline tour with Rolling Loud.

The rapper even landed himself two Grammy nominations for appearing on Kanye West’s Donda, and Justin Bieber’s Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe).

PinkNews has contacted representatives of DaBaby for comment.
