CNN host mocks Trump’s laundry list of excuses for why he’s immune from the law

CNN host Abby Phillip is fed up with Donald Trump’s litany of excuses for why it’s impossible to convict him of a crime. The former president and 2024 presidential candidate currently faces 91 criminal charges and has made excuse after ridiculous excuse to try to get out of them.

“At this point, Trump is a collector of defenses like some people collect Pokémon,” Phillip said. “But there’s almost too much to count at this point, and trust us we tried.”

The Republican Party has set its sights on reversing the rotation of the planet by becoming the party of the far distant past and the party of “no.”

The screen then begins scrolling through a list of all the excuses Trump has made that Phillip’s team could find. The list covers everything from “witch hunt” to “deep state” and also includes, among others:

Presidents can’t obstruct justice
He did not have corrupt intent

At one point in December, Trump even tried to attack the judge in his New York trial by using a conspiracy theory he read from disgraced former congressman George Santos. It did not go as planned.

Trump has been indicted in New York City for allegedly paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet about their alleged affair, in D.C. for his role allegedly inciting the January 6 Insurrection, in Florida for allegedly endangering national security by stealing and showing off classified documents at his home in Mar-a-Lago, and in Georgia for alleged election interference through pressuring local officials, harassing election workers, making false statements about electoral fraud to the state legislature, and attempting to breach election equipment. He has pled not guilty to all of these charges.
