A teaser trailer for The Weeknd’s new HBO series The Idol has dropped – and it’s chaotic.

The star-studded series comes “from the twisted minds” of Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) and Reza Fahim. It features Lily Rose-Depp, Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan as well as The Weeknd himself.

Set against a dark and gritty LA backdrop, the show brands itself as “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood” and the trailer packs in everything you would expect: sex, drugs, raves and crime.

Although little is still known about the plot, the series revolves around the complicated budding relationship between Rose-Depp’s Jocelyn and The Weeknd’s as-yet-unnamed character.

When rising pop idol Jocelyn falls into a racy love affair with the entrepreneur and secret cult leader played by The Weeknd, everything spirals.

The six-episode series will also star viral sensation Rachel Sennott, Jennie Kim from the band Blackpink, Steve Zissis and breakout star from Transparent, Hari Nef.

Production on the show has been mired with issues. Back in April, Deadline director Amy Seimetz exited the show amid a sweeping creative overhaul alongside cast member Suzanna Son (Red Rocket).

This came after claims The Weeknd was unhappy with the creative direction of the show and felt there was not enough focus on his character.

“The Idol’s creative team continues to build, refine, and evolve their vision for the show and they have aligned on a new creative direction,” HBO said in a statement.

With cults, crime and salacious scandals galore, only time will tell what viewers are in for. As of yet there is no release date for The Idol.

And there is still the question as to how all the other characters, including Sivan and Nef, will enter into the plot.
