
Cardion Arts with the ICA London present: Queer Performance : a fundraiser for akt

Cardion Arts (formerly KKWEER Arts) is a non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of LGBTQIA+ artists and fostering inclusivity across societys partnering with the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London to present a special one-night event Cardion Nights: Queer Performance for akt, on 1st March 2025 at the (ICA). The lineup features new work by performance artist Ebun Sodipo, drag and movement artist Wet Mess and singer Tom Rasmussen alongside special guests.
Ebun Sodipo: An artist and writer whose work centres black trans futures, will present ‘The Way Her Tongue Settled’, a powerful performance drawing on the life of Vitória, an enslaved African trans woman in 16th-century Lisbon.
Wet Mess: Drag & movement artist who works across theatre. They have performed internationally with artists like Monster Chetwynd and Pester & Rossi, with works shown at Tate Britain, Southbank Centre, IMMA, and will be creating a new work for this performance.
Tom Rasmussen ia an acclaimed musician who will perform songs from their albums ‘Live Wire’ and ‘Body Building’, which delve into the complexities of queer life, self-forgiveness, and navigating the world as a visibly queer person. Rolling Stone hailed Rasmussen as “the voice of a generation” following the release of ‘Live Wire’ in 2024.
Curator, Gemma Rolls Bentley said: “Cardion Arts and the ICA are excited to platform new and existing performance-based work by artists working across poetry, music and visual art. In a moment when community feels more important than ever, these artists come together to present a special night of celebration, togetherness and fundraising for akt”.
PS Akt (legally known as The Albert Kennedy Trust) is a voluntary organisation based in England, created in 1989 to serve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ+) young people who are homeless or living in a hostile environment. It started in Greater Manchester in 1989 and opened in London in 1996, and expanded to Newcastle in 2013, Newcastle upon Tyne and Bristol.
