Caitlyn Jenner announces new job at Fox News on Trans Day of Visibility

Olympic gold medalist, reality television star, failed gubernatorial candidate… and now, Fox News pundit?

Fox News announced today, on the Transgender Day of Visibility, that Caitlyn Jenner has been signed on as a contributor.

“I am humbled by this unique opportunity to speak directly to FOX News Media’s millions of viewers about a range of issues that are important to the American people,” she said in a statement.

“Caitlyn’s story is an inspiration to us all,” said Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott. “She is a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community and her illustrious career spans a variety of fields that will be a tremendous asset for our audience.”

Jenner has appeared on Fox News before, but as a guest. The first interview she did after she started her campaign to be governor of California was with Fox host Sean Hannity.

During that interview, she complained about how terrible it is to look at homeless people, said she doesn’t “have a problem” when people misgender her, said “the integrity of girls’ sports” is “extremely important” when asked about transgender girls participating in school sports, and called Donald Trump “a disruptor” and praised “good things he did” without getting specific.

That interview may have been an indicator of the “range of issues” that Jenner wants to discuss on Fox news.

In an appearance on Fox’s America’s Newsroom program last year, Jenner suggested a state “commission” to determine which trans girls are trans enough to participate in school sports.

“Trans women who are truly trans, who at a very young age, you know, started medical treatment, they’ve grown up as girls, of course, they should be able to compete in girls’ sports,” she said.

“But some guy who hasn’t done any therapy, who hasn’t done anything, there has to be a review board,” she continued. She was referring to a trans girl who has not yet received gender-affirming medical care like puberty blockers or hormone replacement therapy as “some guy.”

“And I would be the first governor to put together a review board to review each case.”

But viewers haven’t always been happy to listen to her. Jenner appeared on Tomi Lahren’s Fox News show last year. Lahren used Jenner’s pronouns when promoting the interview, and she got slammed with negative messages from Fox fans who insisted Lahren should misgender Jenner.

Jenner’s background in politics is limited to that gubernatorial run, where she got 1% of the vote in California.
