Brian and Michael Are Going Places: travelling the whole world since 2016 to avoid ‘You Know Who’

In November 2016, when most of us in the US were moaning about the imminent end of the civilized world as we knew it, two intrepid and principled gay men from Seattle, Washington, did what we all said we wanted to do (but didn’t). Brent Harbinger and Michael Jensen sold up the house within a month, put most of their possessions in storage and set off to discover a whole world without Trump.

Queerguru first caught up with this married couple last April and were immediately in awe of them.  They were beaming with such positivity as they shared with us that one of their major discoveries was that THE WORLD IS NOT A SCARY PLACE.  They also dispelled many of my own myths about how unwelcoming the world is to gay people,  and they had made it part of their routine to visit every single queer community wherever they were.

This major lifesaving change may have been precipitated by the disastrous political of that time, but re-visiting the pair again just this week, I found there is no trace of negativity or regret, but  just undiluted optimism for the world in general, and their lives in particular.   As I am currently trying to shake off the depression we all share about the uncertain precipice our country is in right now, I know I needed to get in touch with Brent and Michael to see if their enthusiasm would rub off on me.  It did..
