Two LGBT+ superheroes have been officially been cast for the upcoming Batman spin-off series, Gotham Knights.

Tyler DiChiara and Fallon Smythe will play siblings in The CW pilot, Variety reported, with a view to becoming series regulars.

Based on the DC comic series of the same name, Gotham Knights takes place after the death of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman.

Wayne’s son goes on to create an alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies, who have been framed for his murder.

Without Batman roaming in the shadows, Gotham’s seedy underbelly takes over. Bruce Wayne’s children and their new allies form a misfit group of vigilante heroes known as the Gotham Knights.

DiChiara will take on the role of Cullen Row, a transgender teenager who has spent his life hiding his true self from an unaccepting parent. In the pursuit to clear their name, he will use his intelligence to help fight upcoming battles.

Smythe will play Cullen’s sister, Harper Row, a streetwise, gifted engineer. Harper is bisexual, and in the comics is also known as Bluebird.

The show is being created by Arrowverse executive producer Greg Berlanti’s production company, with Batwoman writers Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams attached to the series.

Meanwhile, Smythe made her on-screen debut in web series SHRIEK before landing a recurring role in the Disney Channel series, I Didn’t Do It.

The rising star has also appeared in Nickelodeon’s mini-series, Lost in the West and Freeform’s Grown-ish.

The casting news comes after the upcoming DC Comics’ Batgirl film added a trans superhero sidekick played by trans actress Ivory Aquino.
