A rightwinger tried to go viral with outrage video about airport bathrooms. It backfired completely.

A right-wing activist tried to go viral by expressing outrage over all-gender restrooms at an airport, but she was quickly shut down by an out gay local official.

Morgonn McMichael of the far-right, anti-LGBTQ+ organization Turning Point USA was at the Kansas City International Airport, and she noticed that they offer all-gender bathrooms. Feigning shock, she posted a video to social media to call out the airport.

Justice Horn said he has faced homophobic emails, comments, and words said in-person on the campaign trail as well as multiple death threats.

“Twenty stalls, all gender!” McMichael said. “This is crazy!”

“Forgive me for filming in a bathroom, but this is… all gender!” she continued. “I hate this! I absolutely hate this!”

“I’m not going in here!” she said after she had already been in there. “I don’t like this!”

Justice Horn, the chair of the Kansas City LGBTQ Commission, responded to her and let her know that her attempt to stoke outrage at his city wouldn’t work.

“Hi, chair of the commission who helped craft this policy in Kansas City,” he wrote in response on X. “First, these are single stall, all gender bathrooms that allow for greater privacy. There are gender specific bathrooms down the hall too.”

“Finally, don’t use my community to create fake outrage—it’s sad.”

He added a picture that showed a row of stalls with doors that go all the way to the floor, which McMichael didn’t show in her video.

McMichael’s post on X got around three thousand likes and a community note explaining that the all-gender restroom is just a row of single-person stalls. Horn’s post got over ten times the number of likes – 40,000 at the time of publication.

This is not the first time McMichael has targeted LGBTQ+ people with her videos. Last year, she made a video at Target during Pride Month where she mocked some of the LGBTQ+ items on sale and said that they proved that Target was trying to “groom” children. Grooming refers to practices used by child sex abusers to get access to victims and dissuade them from reporting the crime.

She pointed to a swimsuit with extra fabric for tucking. The swimsuit, which became controversial on the right, was only available in adult sizes, and even if it were available in children’s sizes, it’s unclear why she would be bothered if trans minors’ genitalia isn’t as visible in a swimsuit.

“These are baby clothes!” she said, holding up Pride onesies that maybe LGBTQ+ parents would like to buy for their kids. “They say grooming isn’t happening, then why are their Pride baby onesies!”
